L.C. Stith

We are all saddened by the loss this past Monday of L.C. Stith in an accident at his home. His smile, his laughter, the friendly gesture of an arm around your shoulder will be missed. Our condolences are extended to the friends and relatives of the Stith family. After the visitation on Wednesday, L. C. was taken to Tulsa, OK, for his funeral and burial. In the universe of “really good people” L.C. was right there at the top!
Our prayers and support for Rita for having lost such a supportive friend will continue.

Breakdowns

Things happen! You may have noticed that things have heated up, not only outside, but in the club house as well. The ancient air conditioner that supplies the back of the structure finally did itself in. The management committee approved a replacement unit that should be installed by the time the heat really hits. Let’s hope!!

You may have noticed an different small rough mower lowering the rough. The older Toro has been replaced by the John Deere model you see. That should speed up the mowing process considerably.

New Members

Welcome to the following new members who have joined us since the last report. They are:

Welcome to you all! Welcome back, Kim, “we been missin’ you”.

Tournaments

Don’t forget to sign up for the next tournaments that are scheduled. They are:
July 15th Cat & Dog Scramble
July 29th 2 Lady Scramble
August 12th 1 Person Scramble

Note: If you have never played a 1 person scramble, give it a try! It is played as though you were a clone of yourself and the two of you got along well enough to play a scramble together. You hit a shot, and your clone hit’s a shot, you choose the best of the two shots, and continue on down the course. It is claimed you can remove 4-6 strokes off your normal round. Check it out. It has been noted that the “flat bellies” hit two of everything, whereas, more seasoned citizens usually hit only one shot if it is a good one. ‘Wonder why that is??

Mistake

Michael Loftis was the winner in last month’s mistake hunt. He was just hours after Rita, but consider him the winner because “sharp eyes” has already won----gonna’ start sending her newsletter out a week late, just to make it fair.

Competitors

While there are numerous courses in the tri-lakes area with whom we compete for members and walk-ons, there are two that are private, for profit courses such as ours. They are Wedgewood, located between Mountain Grove and Cabool, and Rivercliff which is located just below Bull Shoals Dam in Bull Shoals, AR.
We are comparing pricing, facilities, amenities and condition of the course in our consideration of pricing structures for next year.
When you get a chance to, go play one or both of our competitors courses and share with us what your thoughts are regarding that comparison.

That’s it for this month. Hit the ball hard, long, and straight. If you can’t do that, join the crowd and have fun anyway!!
