What’s New?

- New Board Member

The board has appointed Dave Smiley to finish the term for Doyne Byrd, who resigned due to work schedule conflicts. Doyne, thanks for your efforts, and welcome “onboard” Dave.

- Fish Fry/Pie Auction results
The Fish Fry brought in $578 and the Pie Auction $430 for the Club. We want to thank everyone who participated. And a special thank you to Jim and Janice Henderson for providing the fish and sponsoring the event.

- They Rang the Bell on #1.
You may have noticed a slight tilt and a little wobble at the bell on #1. Two of our board members, who will remain unnamed, were golfing together in the Friday Night Couples League. We were told that in his quest to quickly retrieve an errant shot, JH ran smack into the bell with his cart. They both heard bells for a while. SS is claiming whiplash and is considering her options for compensation. We will keep you informed on the status of this incident.
In case you are having trouble figuring out who was involved in this mishap, here are our current board members: Jim Henderson, Glenn McAndless, Frank Muhm, Todd Nash, Dave Smiley, Sandra Strong, Bill Trivitt.

- Men’s League Record?
On Tuesday July 29th at Men’s League, the team of Dustin Hudspeth and Jeremy Thomas shot a 7 under par 27 in the 9 hole event. We believe this is a course record. At least, no one we have talked to can remember a lower score than this. These guys were on fire that night. Dustin won closest to pin on #4 with a tee shot which stopped about 1 ft from the hole. Then we understand the team was on the green with their tee shots on both #5 and #6. In my dreams!!!

- Ladies’ League help
Thank you to the Ladies’ League and the others who have helped to obtain and lay out food for our tournaments.

- Cart Path Fund
We are very grateful for the generous offers which continue to come forward. We owe a special thanks to Wally Plante for getting this program under way. In addition to Wally’s donation, others have offered to help, including: Paul Fortney, Rex Johnson, Norman Hannaford, John Harlin, and several others representing Century Bank. We thank you all very much.

- Air Conditioner Offer
Marlin Wallace had offered a heating/air conditioning system when we were having such trouble keeping the Pro Shop cool. Fortunately, putting the insulation above the area seems to have solved the problem. But we thank you, Marlin, for the offer. And thank you for providing towels at the ball washers for the past eleven years. Also. thanks to Pat McAndless, who has kept them laundered and repaired, and to Glenn McAndless who has made sure the clean towels are out for each of the approximately 15 tournaments per year.

- Recycling aluminum
Thanks to all of you, we have accumulated a large amount of aluminum cans ready to recycle as soon as prices improve a bit. We really appreciate your putting the cans in the designated containers available at the club house, cart sheds, and many of the tee boxes. Please try to remember not to toss cans in the wire mesh trash containers. Thank you for your help.
